Summit vs. the Public

Summit vs. the Public Posted on by admin

Growing up in the agriculture industry, I have been surrounded by many farmers who spend valuable time and money to keep their crops and farmland in peak performance. The Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline, a pipeline that will be carrying high pressure liquefied carbon across a five state region, will damage a lot of those farmers’ cropland. In addition, these farmers are worried how this pipeline will impact the environment. My father, a business owner, along with many others have expressed concerns of what this pipeline could do to the economy. Along with that, many people in my small hometown community of Hartford, South Dakota are worried about the safety concerns that a high pressure carbon pipeline poses to the community. Communities that are not affected by the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline, don’t seem to pose the same concern. With this pipeline being such a new proposition to the world, there has not been a lot of research conducted regarding the aspects of public safety, the environment, the economy and the agriculture industry. It was hypothesized that individuals affected by the pipeline would be more concerned about the affects that the pipeline has than those who are not affected by the pipeline.

I have created this website as a repository for information and results from my research on the public perceptions of the Summit Carbon Solutions Pipeline in South Dakota.
